Computers require maintenance. Without it they slow down and both software and hardware can malfunction. Comped's Unit 9 teaches you how do the maintenance, but if this is not your thing, Comped can arrange to have it done for you for a relatively small fee. Bring in just the tower for the following: |
1. Install and run software to remove adware and spyware (Ad-aware),2. Install and run software to delete unnecessary files (CleanUp!), 3. Install and run software to clean the registry (RegSupreme), 4. Delete unused programs (Control panel/Add & Remove Programs), particularly expired antiviral and unused Internet Service programs, 5. Install and run a free antiviral program (Avast!), 6. Remove infected System Restore data (System Properties), 7. Reduce the number of startup programs (msconfig), 8. Download and install Microsoft updates, 9. Run the Windows utilities scandisk and defrag, 10. With Windows XP, set firewall on and create a System Restore point. 11. Install a firewall (Zone Alarm) on computers using DSL service. 12. Install Mozilla Firefox browser on computers with Internet Explorer problems. All the programs that are installed will be left on the computer and icons linked to them will be placed on the desktop. |

NOTE: This is strictly a cleanup and NOT a repair service. Any "gremlins" in the computer that are not addressed by the above tools will still be there after cleanup . Cleanup will NOT solve problems due to missing, corrupted or file incompatibilities or other matters associated with a computer in need of repair.
